Nurturing future theater people

A drama workshop held at the school community “ACTLABO” established in Osaka in the summer of 2023 by entertainment production companies Ricomotion and Cube. Together with the playwright, we will spend 2 full days explaining “plays” for high school students over the age of 25 who will lead the theater world in the future.
The text is “The Goddess of Basiltown” (2020) by Keralino Sandrovic (hereafter, KERA). It was performed by KERA and Tamaki Ogawa's unit “Kemuri Laboratory”. Playwright and director Keisuke Fukutani (president of Anonymous Theater Company), who works not only on stage but also on screenplays for movies and TV, will serve as the lecturer for the workshop.

There are also drama assignments. What you can do because you learn over 2 days

The target ranges from “people who have already written” to “people who are writing for the first time.” The reason we are recruiting such a wide range of people is because it reflects the thoughts of “ACTLABO,” which aims to be a place where not only people aiming to become professionals but also the general public can participate. Therefore, instead of suddenly learning to “write a play,” the content starts with “reading a play,” which is also one way to enjoy theater. Learning how to read KERA's plays should be a meaningful time even for those who have already written.
Participants were also given the challenge of writing a one-scene play based on what they learned on day 1. The feedback will be solid using the 2nd day of the workshop, approximately 2 weeks later.
A unique opportunity to thoroughly enjoy KERA's style. From people who want to write plays to people who are interested in plays, it is likely to be a time where various discoveries can be made.
