Creating opportunities for children to become familiar with theaters

A project for kids I've always wanted to do

The Ishii Kozo office has been warm for a long time, and there are two projects to create opportunities for children to go to theaters. “Let's make Katsura Yamato rakugo!” for elementary school students to high school students It's a participatory event called “It's Even More Fun When There's Monogatari Music,” for children aged 0 to 10.
“Let's make Katsura Yamato Rakugo!” to be held in October and January next year is where rakugo storyteller Katsura Yamato creates rakugo with her children. This is a project where you can not only learn about the appeal of rakugo itself, but also enjoy “the fun of creating a new work by participating yourself.” Children from 0 years old can participate in “Monogatari: It's Even More Fun with Music” to be held in January next year so that not only children but also parents can enjoy it. So it's OK for kids to sleep or cry. I will actually experience how songs spread much more richly by reading children's stories aloud (like in a musical drama), and I will teach them tips for putting them into practice at home. The lecturer is Anna Saeki, a tango singer and actress active in the world.

If they come to the theater in 10 years

The reason why the capacity is as small as 30 people each time (parents are counted separately) compared to the size of the venue is that children who are withdrawn are not left behind. It contains the desire that all participants actively enjoy themselves, and that many things are happening in a place called a theater, and that it is interesting to go see them. The Ishii Kozo Office sees this as the beginning of the project and intends to continue. “If you've been to the theater at least once when you were little, the hurdle for the next time you go is low, even if you have time. I think this experience will also lower the hurdle of taking children to the theater for parents. Among them, I think there will be children who want to make a play someday, and children who go to the theater as an option to take a break. I hope that the children who participated in this project will come to the theater in 10 years.”
